"Steven Correia established Correia art glass in the early 1970’s. Steve studied at the University of Hawaii and then received his masters at UCLA. Correia art glass was one of the original art glass studios in California. Steve opened his doors in 1973 right here is Santa Monica.
In 1989, after many years creating some of the finest hand blown glass pieces in the country he left his company in the capable hands of his sister(Algerine) and brother(Jeff). Steve went on to fulfill his desire to work in lead crystal."
Steven V. Correia was born on February 14, 1949 in San Diego, California. He attended San Diego State University, the University of Hawaii where he received a BFA and MFA, and UCLA, where he received an MA. Since 1973, he has been a vital influence in the modern glass movement. He is one of a select group of American artists working in glass who have achieved international prominence. His hand-blown art glass works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corning Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Kentucky Derby Museum, and numerous private collections. In 1984, he was honored for his extraordinary accomplishments as an artist with the naming of Steven V. Correia Junior High School.
